How does feedback on Bidtopia work, and how is it different from other sites?
Solution We believe that our feedback system effectively removes any chance of retaliatory feedback while also addressing the issue of large volume buyers or sellers who simply do not have the time, inclination, or will to leave a feedback. We call our system "Transaction Scoring". Here is a basic outline of what we use.

BIDTOPIA has two distinct forms of "user accounts". You either have a "bidder account" or a "seller account". Bidder accounts will never be allowed to sell, and seller accounts will never be allowed to bid. Our view is that bidders and sellers are different, we do not believe they behave the same, act the same or have the same interests, and we certainly do not believe in forcing these two different groups onto an identical playing field.

Bidder accounts will have what is known as a 'Transactional Score'. A bidder has a single obligation to holding up their end of the transaction. Bidders are responsible for "buying" or "paying" for their order in a timely fashion. Every time a seller reports back to BIDTOPIA that a bidder has paid for an item, the Transaction Score of the buyer account will receive a (+1) resulting in an increase by 1 point. This is not a unique score, rather, you may score 2 'transactional points' if you pay for two items from the same seller. If a seller reports back to BIDTOPIA that a bidder failed to pay in the allotted check out time, then the bidder account will receive a (-1) resulting in a reduction of 1 point to their transactional score. If a seller neither reports the item as paid, or not-paid after a 30 day time period, BIDTOPIA auctions will presume the transaction was successful and the bidder account will receive a (+1) transactional score. Any bidder account with a transactional score of less than 90%, and 5 or more negative transactions will be suspended from further bidding.

Seller accounts will still receive traditional feedback. Bidders may leave sellers Positive, Negative or Neutral feedback at any time after the completion of the auction, regardless if the item has been paid for or not. Again, if no feedback is left, after 30 days BIDTOPIA assumes a positive transaction, and increases the seller's transaction score by +1.

If a "bidder account" is suspended, then all negative and neutral feedbacks they have left for sellers will be removed after 30 days. Since bidders receive a "transactional" feedback score that is automated by whether or not the customer pays, bidder accounts no longer have to be worried about retaliatory feedback. This method now creates a more meaningful feedback system which is no longer 'tit-for-tat'. If a seller fails to leave any form of feedback for over 30 days, then a positive comment "Transaction Complete' will be left by default on day 30, in much the same way a positive transaction score for is left for the bidder by default after 30 days.
